This Manual Handling training course complies with the Health and Safety Authorities current requirements under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 Chapter 4 of Part 2. The course includes identifying risks and performing a risk assessment to ensure appropriate control measures are in place to prevent accidents in the workplace. 

Course Content

  • Definition of Manual Handling

  • Importance of safe lifting techniques.

  • Legislation- Health and Safety at work act 2007.

  • Risk Assessment

  • Ergonomics.

  • Anatomy of the Spine.

  • Exercises and injury prevention

  • 7 Principals of safe moving and handling

  • Manual handling practical section.

  • Questions and answers session (short Questionnaire in order to evaluate the theoretical understanding of the lessons)

Course duration:
Full duration is 3.5 hours based on a group of 12 people per 1 tutor ratio. Smaller classes may require less time to complete the practical section of the course. Training is delivered using both practical and theory-based lessons with video demonstration. 
 

Assessment/Certification:

Practical assessment and sort questionnaire at the end of the lesson to be completed. DTA certificate of attendance is issued on successful completion of the course valid for two years from the date of the training.

All our tutors are fully insured, fully certified QQI & PHECC registered instructors and all come from health & safety backgrounds.
